Comment - Was a pretty rainy day and not that bright for a change so I thought it would be a good time to try some Kodak Portra 800. Very impressive film stock. The images came out looking really “filmy” and full of contrast. The colours are so saturated and vivid. At first when I started scanning the images and processing them in NegativelabPro using my usual profile of “Linear Deep” the images looked pretty flat and lifeless. After switching to the “Standard” profile which is more in line with the standard brightness and contrast of a lab scanner, they started to look more punchy. Unlike Ektar 100, which is also super saturated, Portra 800 seems to keep skin tones looking pretty natural as well. The grain is pretty pronounced, but it’s a really nice looking grain which I think adds to its “filmy” look. I’ll definitely be shooting this again. Very impressive.
